People like this have no business developing software. Countless projects use C and have been able to use that artillery to make very stable software that runs systems Aircraft Systems to powering Word Processors. When someone suggests dumping C it hearkens back to the day when they passed legislation requiring all defense work be developed in Ada.
I've looked at Rust, but definitely not a fan. Why use Rust when there is Ada? Not invented here syndrome is back in full force with the kiddies. C is a language for big boys that need and want that "artillery". I don't understand why people have such a problem with C. Memory management is not that difficult. Error handling is not difficult. I've found nothing is difficult in C, even Bjarne Stroustrup's claim you're unable to abstract is bogus. structs can have function pointers. I've been developing for 30 years and C/C++ both languages will be around longer than I'm alive.
Rust and Ada are pretty much the same language. Why did someone spend the time developing another language called Rust?
Learn C, C++, Java and Python and forget the rest of these pet projects. Oh, Learn Ada over Rust. Ada is far more advanced and extensible than Rust will ever be.
