What makes you think bank notes are anonymous? They have serial numbers. I just assume the government scans them at every ATM, Bank and other "trusted" money I/Os...

Well, they need to keep the seed keys. How else would the [insert three-letter agency] snoop on your communications?

  3. Internet != Broadcast on New Irish Internet Tax? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Here in Switzerland they try to "tax" internet PCs too.

In the olden days the justification for this tax was, that you cannot control the reception of a broadcast unless you monitor every home. The same is not true for internet services. It's not broadcast, it's 1:1 connections and you can easly identify your subscribers. There's no reason (besides greed) to charge non users like me. I've consciously choosen not to have tv or radio. I won't pay just because i have a internet connection.

  4. commercials? which commercials? on But What About the Commercials? · · Score: 1

During the last 5 hours watching the Super Bowl I didn't see a single commercial...

Were you aware, that out of the 800 million ppl which were supposed to be watching this game, only 100 million were US americans?

Another number they mentioned on austrian TV was, that during the game these 100 million amercians were eating 20'000 tons of snacks. I guess somebody messed up the conversion from those strange US-units to the metric system... or 5kg / person? can this be correct? :)

  5. CD2Player only? on 4.8G Portable MP3 Player · · Score: 1

Can it only rip directly from CD to the Player or can I also copy from HD to the player?

From the description: "The PJB-100 offers fast direct digital transfers from a standard audio CD directly to MP3 files on the player."
note the "direct". it never says something about copy from the HD (let alone to the HD).
