  1. Re:I think it's habit - AND convenience on Name-Your-Cost Radiohead Album Pirated More Than Purchased · · Score: 1

I heard a news-report yesterday stating that 1.3 milion people had downloaded the album from the Radiohead site, and that the average amount 'donated' was 4 pounds, twice what they would have gotten from a record-company.

I myself downloaded it 'for free' just to get a listen before deciding, I will be getting the physical cd when it comes out in december, as the album is great.

And have you ever tried running the wine in ports... it's a version from 1999, which no longer works, because openbsd discontinued some required kernel-patches that were needed for it.

They are still saying it is their own code, and not mentioning or crediting the Xvid people. And even if they did do that, they can still be sued for what they have done, eventhough they have somewhat corrected their error.

It's still copyright infringment (putting your name om someone else's work).

  5. Re:got vmware? on The Guts Of An iPod · · Score: 1

Erm... I don't ever see this working... VMWare is a 'x86' virtualizer/emulator. A mac uses a completely different cpu, it'll never work.
There are however emulators which do emulate the entire mac system (G4/PowerPC chip etc)

    Never in VMWare....

  6. Re:gnu/linux on HP to Use Debian for Linux Development · · Score: 1

I'd like to see those distributings try and make a GNU-less version of Linux.... good luck...
GNu components make up such a large part of the entire system (Compilers, All base unix tools)
It's not justified to not call it GNU/Something

  7. Way's to get it on the Net anonymously... on Developing Subversive Software? · · Score: 1

You could upload it to some box on a not-accessable location that only you know, then go to a internet-cafe or whatever, download the code from that hidden location, and then upload it with your nicely anonymous internet-cafe account to some major distribution ftp site.
Here in the Netherlands they have some huge internet cafe's where you can get near-unlimited anonymous access for less that $1....
After downloading it from your hidden location you can remove it there to cover your tracks some more.
Posting it to USENET groups is also a very nice way to get it distributed fast... especially if you use some anon reposters to cover your tracks.

If you look into your kernels bootup messages (Yeah... you don't see them often...) it says: POSIX Compliance testing by UNIFIX... And they are able to provide you with a posix valid version of linux. There you go
