period. Add documentation of the process as a requirement to complete anything and include it in the review for any kind of performance mgmt.
You'll also need to make it easier to get the job done - we have Wiki's as well as auto-generated (hence auto-updated) documentation for technical configuration details where ever scripts can do the job - this makes the job of continuous manual update a lot easier.
From TFA - "The introduction of the Merom design will be a turning point in Intel's product policy, because it will be the backbone for all processor families that go into the desktop, the mobile or the enterprise space. In contrast, the desktop and enterprise markets are provided with Pentium 4 and Pentium D NetBurst architecture processors while the mobility CPUs are derived from the more efficient Pentium M design"
Merom being the sucessor to the forthcoming Yonah. Based on the recent AnandTech benchmarks of Yonah against desktop chips , it seems like Intel may not have to play 'catch up' for much longer. Of course, we don't know what else AMD has up their sleeve:)
RPM is the default package manager for RedHat, Fedora, SuSE and Mandarake. You'll still need to create distribution specific RPM's but that's mainly changes to the SPEC file and rebuilding. IIRC, RPM's can be converted deb's as well, do Debian is taken care of with one additional step.
"The atomic bomb may be classified as a weapon capable of being used indiscriminately, but its use in Nagasaki was selective and proper and as merciful as such a gigantic force could be expected to be."
Certainly disagree with the choice of words here. Selective and proper ? Maybe. Merciful ? definitely not !
well, in all those cases the alternatives have equivalent features (generally speaking) on offer. Whereas in this case, Fedora Directory Server is vastly superior to OpenLDAP in terms of features and I assume scalability as well going by what i've read/heard.
Finally ! this is the only Open Source Directory that can compare to the features that Active Directory has to offer, especially multi-master replication.
Unfortunately, this will probably mean OpenLDAP will fade into insignificance, but I may be wrong !
This is the 'stronger rope' I needed to hang the guys planning on making Linux authentication depend on MS AD where I work:)
Although trac is quite good and integrates well with SubVersion, it has a few disadvantages, the main one being no support for multiple projects.
Scarab, the open-source bug tracking tool that CollabNet's commercial offering uses and GForge, although cumbersome to setup are IMHO better alternatives if you're looking for bug-tracking tools to use along with SubVersion
Biotech 'outsourcing' has already begun. At least to India. It's being majorly hyped here as the next big job creator (after IT). There are quite a few companies, including a traditional IT service provider expanding into this area.
The 'benefactor's' emphasis only on non-micro$oft stuff seems sinister. Now, if he had said non-commercial or non-closed source products, that would have been something else.
umm...AFAIK clearcase was developed by ATRIA, and the atria ppl are now working on AccuRev.
Also there are a lot of other tools - perforce, PVCS dimesions, etc that have *some* of this functionality.
Applying to only *web* objects is a slightly grey area too. What if an something not used on the web today starts being used for some web services tomorrow ?
and having lost a friend to an avalanche, and seeing the trauma his family went through especially since they did not even have his body to perform the last rites,I can appreciate the usefullness of this device.
and BTW, I (still) prefer Anna Kournikova over Britney any day:)

Formerly Netscape Directory Server, also the base for iPlanet/SunOne Directory server , Fedora Directory Server is the best OSS directory service out there today. Check These links for reviews.

Read this for more on why those concerns / worries are *very* valid.

The Alps ? nope, but the Himalayas, YES!
