Yeah, Beebop was good, the dub above average compared to the usual crap. I just wish we had a more diverse pool of voice talent. It's not the same guys voice that gets annoying, it's the fact that he can't match it to the character he's playing that's irritating. It makes you wonder stuff like "What's the pilot of Big O doing in Beebop?"
I don't know about EVAs dub though. i've hear it. I wasn't inspired.
The point is a valid one since Evangelion's initial draw was a giant robot theme. Hell, you didn't find out exactly what it was until about 3/4s through the series. And he's also correct on the carefree mish-mashing of religious elements that form something strangly watchable. I think it's the X-Files element, personally. For me, it wasn't the plot that you knew, but all the stuff you didn't that kept me hooked.
And burned (literally) all the original cell art. It's enough to make any anime fan cry... Unless the anime is something like Pilot Canidate ~shudders~
Come on, Evangelion is so Standard Anime Plot #1- Boy gets power armour/giant mech, battles evil for college credits. -Albeit, nicely done. Heck, I was almost turned off to the series because of the first few eps... It was like watching any number of "Boy and his giant" robot animes that have existed.
That's not to say it isn't a damn good series. the plot gets original with a quickness after the first few eps. I guess I shouldn't complain really. It could have been much worse. Pilot Canidate comes to mind. Oh well. Opinions are like armpits; Everybody has two.
BTW, for anybody who's curious, Standard Anime Plot #2 is- Boy mistakenly gets engaged to multiple fiances, chaos ensues.
"In a surprising move, the FTC has filed a motion to shutdown CNN for distributing news information to hackers who watch TV, citing that CNN "adds to the hacker's base of knowledge". CNN has rebuked this charge, saying that it's news has no informational value whatsoever and would there for be worthless to a hacker. Testimonies in the case begin next Tuesday."
Let alone the fact that you have a better chance of your card# being taken from a resteraunt than a secure net connection... Heh.. No news in that, though.
"CNN's startling revelation came as a shock to world community as it was revealed for the first time that cars are used by Hackers world wide. Also revealed was their use of spoons, sidewalks and paper."
"This has gone on long enough!" one senator was reported as saying. "These Hacker-related items must be federally controlled or they will be abused!" When it was pointed out that cars were used by normal, law-biding citizens as well, the senator launched into an Anti-Hacker tirade before driving off to his next appointment."
Um, hey ace, we don't go occupying countries wholsale like you suggest. And look at your examples... Iran? Japan!? Nah, the whole world didn't rally against terrorism or WW2. Riiight. And of course you just go pissing off the entire world. Nobody can do that. And I'm not saying we've had perfect foreign policy. Lord knows it's sucked at times, but we must be doing something right for yas to hate us so much.
Nice. Well thought out. Acually good for destabilizing any county, not just the one I live in =p I like the sandbags... Wonder how big the payload would have to be to be effective....

Which is why I'm for a heavily armed USA, why I'm glad Bush backed out of that assnine anti-ICBM Missile Shield treaty and why I won't for one second apologize for our dominace in world affairs. Since when did it become envogue to trust the enemy!? "Gee, glad I entered into that anti-missile shield treat! I sure trust Saddam not to launch a nuke if he could!" Uh-huh. Yes, that tri-barreled, plasma launching hovertank with anti-matter surface to surface missiles sure makes a mean offensive weapon. And it just happens to make enemies think twice before attacking too... What a bonus! Face the sad, sad facts now that the boundries between offensive and defensive weapons often blur and I don't have a problem with it. Believe it or not, intimidation does make a good defense. When was the last time you picked a fight with Mike Tyson?
I don't expect the America bashing folks out there to like what I'm saying, but I take comfort in the fact knowing they'd love their country to be the dominate world power, if not for the same goals. Look on the bright side. For all our power and influence, we don't have the aggressive expansionist policy the Romans, Greek, or Baybalonian empires did. And no, it's not because you're stopping us ^__^ Weapons on the ground in the sea and the air! Stack em miles high! Build Ballistic Missile Shields! Armed satillites! Hell, I even hear (Was it from Slash here?) that Bush Ok'd the developent of an orbital strike bomber (the coolness factor in that alone deserves my vote). And all I have to say for you is suck it up.
I like Sony as much as the next guy, but exactly how is this story newsworthy? If my product had the market lead time that the PS2 does, I'd be an emerging winner too. It's like comparing the original gameboy's sales to PS2 sales (excluding the obvious hardware disparity).

Just a pet peeve.

;)
I can also second TriGun. Peace and Love, baby!
No wonder why it went berzerk in the first ep... Evangelions using windows... It'd explain a lot.
And burned (literally) all the original cell art. It's enough to make any anime fan cry... Unless the anime is something like Pilot Canidate ~shudders~
When did Linux become hip? Was I unconscious? Must have happend while I was watching Evangelion...
Beebop has it all the way if you have to compare the two.

To de-link Amazon, you'd have to link to em to begin with. I personally never do business with a company that has fired me =p
