  1. Re:Waste of money on The Next Big Particle Accelerator · · Score: 1

I can show you many well educated poor people who walk throught the doors of the welfare office I work at. it takes self motivation to become successful.

And I can show you a bunch of people who work harder than 99% of America, and are STILL barely getting by, barely able to feed and clothe their kids.

Do you know a lot of poor people who just said "I'm going to try really hard!" then jobs just started magically appearing in places where there were no jobs? Did they find money on the ground that allowed them to move someplace with more work?

Some people don't have the education to do much of anything, similar to your lack of any social education or insight into the way the world works.

If you REALLY believe this and want some examples of why you are making yourself look stupid, let me know. Then you can thank me for giving you the education you obviously missed out on.

This IS a blatant misuse of Microsofts monopoly

No it isn't. Not in any way, shape, or form.

If MS was the publisher of the music, then maybe. But in this case, all they are doing is selling their technology to music publishers. The publishers are deciding what technology to use, and they are choosing WMP. The publishers are choosing MS because they have the greatest market share. MS has done nothing wrong here.

I know you want to blame Microsoft for everything, but it's just not the case here. If you want to fault the publishers for choosing a technology that only runs on one platform, then do so. Again, not Microsoft.

I am all for protecting and securing the safety of all people everywhere. But I am not for doing so by way of restricting our rights and freedoms

I'm all for living in a fantasy world as well. What you suggest above is not possible. Securing the safety of people requires resticting rights and freedoms. Don't think so? Come up with a solution yourself.

Take, for instance, the metal detectors in an airport. Do you think they should be removed? This is obviously an invasion of privacy, and possibly illegal search and seizure, is it not?

How about encypted email? Is this part of the American "way of life"? How did you communicate 10 years ago? Did people encrypt their paper mail? Make up secret languages to talk over the phone? Did we have less freedom 10 years ago than we have today?

You asked a question of the families above. Let me ask you a question:
You were told that in 1 month, there was going to be a nuclear attack on the US which would kill 100 million people. The only way to stop it would be to allow the goverment to intercept all phone calls, mail and email. Would you be for allowing the goverment to do that?

Well? 100 million is only 1/3 of the population, so you would be restricting freedoms for 2/3 of the population. I'm guessing you would let the 100 million people die.

People DON'T take responsibility for themselves. People ARE too stupid to take responsibility for themselves. That's why there are so many drunk drivers and drunk driving accidents and fatalities.

Isn't this obvious? If people were responsible, they would not be driving drunk in the first place.
