That must be a new restriction, then...when I was still using VMware 3 years back, I know I had set my MAC address to something like 01:01:01...don't remember the rest and haven't got the config file online. But just for the record, it was possible.

    (sorry, I couldn't resist)

No, Mandrake root is a real plant...Mandragora autumnalis, and Mandragora offincinarum, I think. Doesn't look like much, and they are a bitch to grow from seed :(
Common myth aside, they do not scream when pulled from the earth, though ;)

That answers the question I wanted to ask...
    I think we're quite alike :)

On another note...You know, it _is_ difficult. I personally had never problems with fitting in in a mostly-male environment. I can take the jokes. I can tell dirty jokes as well and give as good as I get. The result, of course, is that, while I'm like one of the boys and all that crap, I'm obviously exactly because of that un-female attitude and un-womanly character (hah!) regarded as odd and not presentable to the customer by management...(and before anyone makes the usual crack about geeks and their appeareance, cut it out...). So you see, ultimately whatever you do you can't win :(

The reg didn't give the original email, that's true, but it was on www.heise.de (the German news site where the email originally was posted) and the offended party did give the headers... for whatever that may be worth...

The translation is fairly accurate. And I must say that this kind of reply to a customer is _not_ accepted even in German speaking culture ;)
