The military avionics industry have seen the replacement of pilots by computers as a foregone conclusion, because of the relative frailty of human pilots under the effects of vast gravitational/centrifugal forces.

The primary impediment to this was identified then, that arming unmanned weapons platforms would be a very hard sell for any government seeking popular consensus - seems that the USA don't care a rats arse anymore - They just don't want their troops paying the cost of war (ie. death) - (Keep racking up the debts kids)
