Everyone is content to sit around and complain about how things are, but no one actually wants to do anything about it. The prevailing attitude is, "If we can throw a couple of dollars at it to have someone else take care of it, we'll do it. But anything else is too difficult."
If you really feel strongly about the DCMA and the new wiretapping proposals or the Microsoft case, then write a letter to the responsible people. Sure, it may not get read. And if it's read, the person reading it may not agree with what you have to say. But you've at least made your voice heard to your representative in the government. Which isn't going to happen complaining around here or at the office water cooler.
