East Timor + Indonesian occupation = genocide

Saw the updated Channel Four documentary on the Indonesian occuaption of East Timor last night.
It was appalling to see how the British, American and Australian governments ignored the genocide in East Timor to ensure lucrative trade contracts. I was even more appalled by Kissinger's manipulation of the UN - the US actively blocked UN condemnation of Indonesia so that Kissinger could save face.
Worst of all was the reugnant Indonesian ambassador just sitting there like an oily c*nt, denying the indisputable evidence of Indonesian atrocities.
Hopefully the Indonesian economy will go completely belly up, but it will probably only hurt the ordinary Indonesians - not the b*stards at the top.
I agree that a more accurate title for Perry's book would be `Intermediate C Programming', but your distinctly rabid sentiments are wide of the mark.
Deep C Secrets is a book that I mean to check out at some point, but I was a little less than enamoured with van der Linden's `Just Java' book. It offers a lot of very good insights into Java, but is lacking in example code.
As an aside, the classic view that C can *only* be learnt from KnR II is a little suspect. It is a great introductory text, and an even better reference for C syntax, but it is a little too bare bones for a standalone C tutorial.
In the United Kingdom, AOL are currently running adverts claiming they have more subscriptions than anyone else. That seems to be the inference one is supposed to draw from ads stating they are "number one in the UK".
However, I'm pretty sure Demon Internet are still the most successfull ISP. They're certainly a damned site better than AOL - it's still considered the mark of a loser having an AOL account...
