    That doesn't make sense at all. I don't go to the movies because i can't afford to spend $10 on the ticket. I can afford to split a $3 video rental with a friend. The video stores buy their videos from the movie studios, so the studios do get some of that money. If VHS didn't exist, I still wouldn't spend $10 to see American Pie.

    Still are; there are sodomy laws still on the books in 19 states. & people are still being prosecuted for consensual sex. In some states even oral sex is illegal. More information here.

    simple. get a midiman 2448 (or 2496, or any soundcard with a digital output) & run it into a good outboard dac. on par with any good cd player, assuming your ripping is ok.

    Mac reboots are still slow as molasses. As bad as or worse than win. Maybe OS X.1 fixes this?

    yes, reboots are fairly quick. but more importantly, i only find the need to reboot my ibook about once every two weeks, so shutdowns/reboots are largely replaced by sleeping.
