The easiest way to detect the use of electronic Steganography is view the actual file size. But this requires that you know the original file size as well. The obvious result is that if the same picture shows two different file sizes it's been tampered with.
Obviously TripWire could be used to detect that someone has tampered with "your" file on your web server.
BUT, if you attempt to use a Steganography program to identify and/or extract the hidden message, the software will not be able to identify a hidden message unless you guess the password correctly AND choose the correct encryption that was used to encrypt it in the 1st place.
