  1. Excuses Excuses on Microsoft Names Linux its Number Two Risk · · Score: 2, Insightful

If Microsoft openly says that they are worried about Linux regardless of if they are or not, it will make any sneaky businness tactics look like they are simply protecting the company from what they see as a serious threat rather being seen to make sure it doesn't get to a position where it could be.

  2. Re:Before the *BSD is Dying trolls start... on Top Five Reliable Providers · · Score: 1

For me FreeBSD is much better in every way than Linux, I have used Mandrake and RH, admitidly not exactly the best distros, but I was new to it, never really got that into Linux either. FreeBSD on the other hand, it knocked the socks off me, it was powerful it was clean, and I found myself wanting to use it more than windows, something that Linux never managed to do to me.

I find myself fiddling for hours with FreeBSD and virtually as soon as a new version comes out despite my 56k modem I download it, I would still call myself a beginner in the Linux/"Unix" world but I could never see myself going for any other OS for a server than FreeBSD.

  3. Re:Free Music? on AOL: Amazon Who? · · Score: 1

Ok, before I just thought AOL was over restrictive, slow and advert ridden, but they own the copyright for Dire Straits songs?! it just got personal!

And on a more topicesk note, Amazon has always been great for me, I have ordered numerous items from there (Including a Dire Straits DVD ;) ) their prices are good, items have allways arrived promptly and in perfect condition so I don't intend to stop using them, not that I would go anywhere near AOL's servers (Apart from AIM unfortunatly) even if Amazon ever sent me a spice girls DVD by mistake.

  4. Lets give it rainbow stripes! on How NASA Colorizes Hubble Images · · Score: 1

Hmmm I wonder if, on their quest to paint the universe they do it by numbers or they get some good artist, cash in hand hush hush P.S. space is really black right?

  5. Marvin? on Sony/Toyota Developing Car With Emotions · · Score: 2, Insightful

For all of you that have seen it Marvin the manicly depressed robot from Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy rings a bell, imagine starting your car up to go down to the shops and it crying because you arn't going far and it's not worth it because it could do so much more, this sounds very very strange and iffy all you need is for it to have a mood swing and *WOOSH* off it shoots down the road and you get a speeding ticket, what's going to be your excuse, Sorry officer my car is having a bad day?

  6. To .info or to .com that is the question on Dot.info is Live · · Score: 1

It's all very well dell creating dell.info that redirects to dell.com but personally I can see little point, I mean if I was going to try and guess the URL 3 letters wins over four any day :), but this isn't just about my lazy fingers, it's about what people know best and all over the TV it's www.??????.com or www.??????.co.uk so these are the ones that people are used to so more than likelly they are going to try dell.com first or they would have to go through the agony of using a search engine that charges more depending on where you want your result to appear and *GASP* guess what will come up if you type Dell into a search engine.

As far as I can see these new TLD's are not worth the hassle.
