    oh yeah,.. and the who sucked Try any of the Who 66-75 and say that, not only did they kick ass, but they were consciously subversive as far as the whole rock star scene went. And they kicked ass.

    MacOS and to a lesser extent Windows are designed by people who actually live in the gui tools that they build for themselves, and they make them work, on a power user level. I sit there in macos, grab a hundred source files, throw them at the editor and a hundred windows open, boom boom boom. Then I do global search and replaces on them, in unison. (and macos was doing this in the late 80's.) Try that with vi.

    Try that with perl, I would think.

    We can not trust shipment numbers, we should measure usage. Web browsing is something we can easily measure. http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2001/October/os.ph p is doing it, and linux has 0.25% share.

    How exactly are they measuring it? My web browser, which is Opera 5.05 for Linux, identifies itself to sites as "MSIE 5.0" as a default. Am I then, and other lazy Opera for Linux users assumed by this site to be running an MS OS? or is there some form of OS detection going on? Not that it'll make a hell of a difference, mind you. I'm just not so sure of the accuracy of these numbers.
