I recently have completed a tour of south asia. The thing that struck me the most was a visit I had with some computer science students at Dhaka University in Bangladesh. They told me that the university only had 2 computers, and that they had been unable to yet use them. I guess they were learning everything in theory.
I looked into shipping some of my old computers over there when I got home, but it would have cost far more than the computer was worth.
I also visited Nepal, and while there were not computers in the hands of the average person, there were lots of computers that could be used. But perhaps a little more expensive than your average person could afford.
