Well, for the Council of Europe (an Organisation not related to the EU) freedom of speech is a very important right. This has been showen in the past. There is just something else that is more important.

The Council of Europe has priorities different from the priorities of the people writing the US constitution some hundred years ago. For example, in Europe death penalty is banned, because the life has a higher priority than revange.

The reason for the different priorities about anti-nazi laws is the different history.Anyway, i hope 10 years later all those anti-nazi laws will not be nescessary anymore, then maybe it will be more harm than use and the law should be changed. (In most european countries it is far easier to change a constitutional law, than it is in the usa)

  2. Facing the drawbacks of caves. on Do Digital Photos Endanger History? · · Score: 2

The choice of method will depend on the type of information and it's quality.

If you make your cave public, someone might want to distroy it, if you keep it secret, there is the possibility that nobody will ever find it.

I've discussed another approach with some friends, we came to the conclusion that founding a religion which will keep the information alive, can be a good method to not only preserve the information but also to make sure that there will be people who can make use of the information. (I heard this method had already been described in some novel.)

Of course, people who have experience on this method, will emphasize the risk of growing disbelieve after some thousand years. But with a little luck, a religion can survive earthquakes, wars, and even burning of book.

I don't understand what people get by subscribing (i don't know what is a "vertical" search), but I just hope the service will stay good for the non-paying users.

In the past google built an image of serious service, without popups, indication of paid ads... I have faith they will not want to give up this market for the new.

Yeah, right. By the way, what is that MSN thing?
I have heard the name sometimes, but i never had the impression that it's something that i will ever need.

The Problem that bother's me are all those nice websites that have browser-specific code for netscape and ie but don't know about galeon, mozilla, lynx, links etc.

There's no need of suspicious theories about MS paying them for it. It works as simple as this:

boss hands a list of features to the coders
coders try to get a fast implementation that works on bosses computer
coders say they need some more time to make it portable to mozilla, galeon, lynx, etc.
boss does not know what they are talking about, thinks they just want to spend time watching porn
boss hands them a list with new features.

  8. Re:What does XP stand for? on Windows XP Has Arrived · · Score: 1
AFAIK, XP stands for the 2 greek letters pronounced khai and rho.

I've never heard of greek letter "khai". X rather looks like a \Chi and it's pronounced like the X in \TeX. There is no similarity to "khai".

What do the MS drones say when they advertise XP? Do they say ex-pee or do they say \Chi\iota\rho\omega?
