Ironically, I once was a "MacAddict" subscriber and worked at 2 companies that switched FROM mac to PC back in the late 90s when Apple was almost driven into the ground by Gil Amelio and the worst iOS versions (7-8) ever. The trauma of those days has made me anti-Apple forever.

Linux on the other hand is the only OS I would ever use on a server (was a slackware guy but moved to Fedora) but could never become attached to it on the desktop side.

First, in this economy, 2% in this economy IS mind-blowing. I know as a musician you might not follow the financial news but even 2% decline would be seen as good news for some businesses.

Are you seriously blaming piracy for your industries inability to adapt to a changing marketplace? Guess what - most people have no problem with paying for music but the industry, instead of adapting quickly, took YEARS to react and when they did it was to squelch digital formats instead of embrace them.

Some can even argue that people who pirate music probably wouldn't even have bought it in the first place - at least not a full CD. Back before mp3s I can think of plenty of songs I liked that I didn't buy because I didn't want the whole CD so I just never got the song. Now I wouldn't hesitate to just buy that song so you are actually getting MORE money than you would have before.

I denounced government bailouts? I don't remember saying that or commenting on the bailouts at all. The bailouts were a necessary evil and things would have been far worse without them.

The problem is I have no control over the corporations and never will. Our only hope is to create a big enough stink that the politicians realize that their constituency, the ones that vote them in, are pissed. Corporations right now have no incentive to be anything but greedy. There was a time many decades ago when if a business acted "evil" you could vote with your dollar and move your business but because of massive mergers and consolidation in the market all that's left is choosing between evils.

For example, try buying a cell phone without supporting some evil megalithic company. It's just not possible.

The problem is when they self-destruct the captains don't go down with the ship. Do you really think Corzine is going to have problems paying his mortgage after driving MF Global into the ground? Or Richard Fuld from Lehman Brothers?

He is right about the guns, religion, and xenophobia (and I would add homophobia). These are people screwed and lied to for years and because their education system is so horribly flawed they are clinging to what they know and the Republicans are capitalizing on that while having no intention of fixing it.

I did read the post and I don't agree that they are purporting in any way to be an official reseller. You can be a reseller without being "official" or "authorized". Those are special terms reserved for companies that make special bulk agreements with a vendor. I did not see that claim made anywhere on the Russian site.

The Raspberry Pi people are overreacting and the only thing they have legal recourse against is the unauthorized use of copyrighted images.

There are a couple of scenarios:

    - No trademark - means screwed all around. They have no case (except for copyrights on images/icons/logos as mentioned above).

    - Trademark but on different business segment. If raspberrypi.ru was selling raspberry cupcakes shaped like a pi symbol then there is no recourse to the American company.

    - Trademark on the same business segment. Then the domain name issue is irrelevant. It's a trademark violation and good luck enforcing it in Russia. Your only hope is that the hosting company is in the US.
