  1. Canceled my Kindle WSJ subscription on Murdoch Demands Kindle Users' Info · · Score: 1

I don't particularly mind Murdoch demanding more money for his paper (even in electronic format) but if I wanted him to have my name and address, I'd give it to him myself. I guess I'll have to make do with just my NYT subscription...

Good call. I just tested my 1.1M/384k Speakeasy DSL line. The results? 1283k down, 313k up...

Really? I'm the Director of Operations at my company, all of us (up to and including the CEO) are in cubes, and Sarbanes Oxley is the bane of my existence for a whole host of reasons but the cubes aren't one of them. I hate them because the distraction factor for folks is huge and because it's a pain in the ass to go find a conference room everytime I need to have a private conversation with someone. But everyone has a lockable filing cabinets and, at the font sizes most people use, you have to be pretty damn obvious if you're peering over someone's shoulder.

My boss would have a hard time getting the logger inbetween my laptop and my laptop's keyboard. I might notice him poking around my bedroom too, if he tried to do it at night.

  5. Re:AntiHydrogen atom? on Antimatter Atoms Captured · · Score: 1

The amount of energy released is VERY large. mc^2, in fact. The reason it doesn't seem like a lot is the mass of a single hydrogen atom is pretty tiny. Get a gram of the stuff though...

  6. Re:Cybex SwitchView on KVM Recommendations for 2002? · · Score: 1

I just bought one of the Avocent branded, 4 port SwitchView boxes. Seems to work pretty well. I had no end of trouble with a Belkin OmniCube 4 port (switching away from my FreeBSD box or my Windows laptop mean a guaranteed reboot when I switched back if I wanted to use the mouse). The only odd thing with the SwitchView is I see a little ghosting under Windows @ 1024x768 but the FreeBSD box is tack sharp at 1280x1024. Might need to turn down the refresh on the Windows side...
