  1. Re:I don't know what to say... on DARPA Grant Cancelled for OpenBSD and U-Penn? · · Score: 0, Troll

Wow too bad for poor Theo. I guess he should have thought about what he was saying and how it would affect him self and others.

Seems to me ( a tax payer and a member of the armed service ) that DARPA ( please remember that the D does stand for defense ) made a correct decesion.

All to often people take actions with out thinking them all the way through and then complain and cry about the outcome when they have to take personal responsability for those actions.

I guess Theo will have to appologize to UPENN and the developers who were flying over on thir own dime.

Equipment...maybe upgrade to infrastructre had to be made regardless. The poorly designed network of circles and thousands of fingers running off the main circles had to be upgraded so they could continue to feed the digital monster. High speed internet is just a byproduct.
Saying it is because the RIAA or because they are loosing their asses is just smoke to cover up the fact that in most cases they are the only game in toen for high speed access, and want to jack their rates and not seem like assholes ( to late )

  3. Re:SCO is gone - Huh? on Ransom Love on United Linux, SCO Unix · · Score: 1

I agree, SCO Unix was / is great. It was very stable so stable in fact that many voice systems ( PBX, Voice Mail, etc ) use it as the base OS.
Too bad it is going away.

  4. Re:I Cancelled My Earthlink Account on Disconnecting · · Score: 1

Your tip #1 won't always work, I used to program VRUs for a Credit Card company, and all our apps removed that option( something about people flooding the ACD because they didn't want to spend all day in voice menu hell ).

More on topic it took me about 2 hours and 2 different calls to un-earthlink myself. They even billed me for DSL service which they could not provide in my area??
