Seems that prophets of all kinds are prone to getting ahead of themselves, aren't we sposed to be on Mars now?

Doesnt mean it wont happen though does it?

  2. All starved by now... on Will Earth Expire By 2050? · · Score: 1

Most of the "western world" is too fat for its own good. That certainly doesn't apply to the majority of humanity, who are just as important as you and your world.

Im an ex prototype solderer, as part of my job I used to spend days hand soldering surface mount components on PCBs. It was a crackpot company and they didn't want to pay to have them machine done. I must say I tend to agree with the original poster's advice. Don't. I can't see these days.

  4. Re:How fast do we really need to go? on 7 Years of 3D Graphics · · Score: 1

I could be missing something here, but from my work with video technology I know that once you go beyond 20-30fps the human eye can't tell the difference. Modern motion picture film runs at 24fps, we cant discern any steps between frames in that, Television at 25-30fps (depending on whether or not PAL/SECAM or NTSC), same result there.

Begs the question, why bother any higher?

  5. Re:.doc is a de facto standard on RMS: Putting an End to Word Attachments · · Score: 1

I havent found that it is the standard.

I have spent the last three weeks emailing my resume to countless organisations in rich text format. I refuse to assume that everyone I send to can read .doc and I always add a note saying that it can be opened by most text editors.

I'm yet to recieve a complaint, or even a comment on this.

Many of the people who are recieving my resume have probably never heard of rtf, and I'm willing to bet when they open up my resume in word, they cant tell the difference.
