I believe 1394b allows up to 800Mbs over their standard cable.
Obviously it depends on the ability of the hosts.
I also seem to remember something about 3.2Gbs firewire over fiber.
With that sort of rate and guarunteed bandwith for transfers firewire
is much more suitable for consumer applications that 1000baseT
