The way I see it, evolution is not a force. In other words, things don't evolve or not evolve, or evolve in a particular direction at a particular rate. Evolution is a handy way of saying that organizisms that live, live, and reproduce. It'd have to be 0K for us not to "have evolution". Evolution is really a huge misnomer because you can use evolution to describe changes in any system, like with thermodynamics. The more "fit" state is the equilibrium reached in temperature, and is completely predetermined by the laws of thermodynamics. But, it can be described in terms of evolution quite easily because evolution is not a law, its a desciption we've used because we don't understand the more fundamental forces producing our population distributions.

The reason their code sucks is that the market doesn't really care too much about the code being pretty and working 100%. They're a company, not recreational programmers, and they don't screw around when the market demands it. GNU and Co. better wake up, because people want something they can use with a learning curve of slope=0, not something that works infaliably or is free.
Microsoft wants money, and money is what they are good at getting. The guys what, just the richest man on the fact of the earth, and the fact that he bumped out the damn oil men to get that distinction goes to show you how much clout and power Microsoft has. Chomsky is trying to plot the extent of US involvement in Somalia. Not just our direct military forces. There are many ways to control a country without direct use of military force. Some of those ways include controlling the former head of the country before the government collapse, or trying to get warlords on your side when they whip out your previous favorite local brigand. In this sense, it would make sense to say the US dominated somalia and such without needing to point out direct military involvement. Plus, its a well known fact that the US military is in everyone's pants just about everywhere in the world. I doubt theres a place the CIA and people aren't involved.

The review posted originally about the movie said it was full of shit. Why didn't you listen? Notice it mentioned that only a couple US soldiers were killed, but 1,000+ somolians. Wow. Cause I know 40+ soldiers can hold off, what, several thousand somalis for a day or two. Why, you might even say that the US soldiers are supermen. WHy, they killed so many of the Enemy! Heros!
