Yes, I understand your point on this. It is just that there are tons of tech sites pushing their reviewing articles into slashdot and while they are talking about something they had as a loaner or to keep I made the item myself. On the other hand I'm bias to my own work as the reviewers can be bias towards the products or companies that they are reviewing for.
Perhaps it should be Slashdot's job to decide what to do on this situation in future. There will be submissions by the creators of the articles themselves so could it be possible to block these or do we want to block them at all?
So if the article is submitted to Slashdot by some third party that feels that the article was ok, it makes the readers of Slashdot feel the same way? Shouldn't you make your own mind if the content is good or not and not care about the submitter of the link?
You mentioned a review about some paper. Sure, if you make a review it is much more easier to be bias if you get to keep the product or like in this case, get the ride the car. On the other hand I didn't do a review. I'm not selling anything here or try to promote some commercial product. Something that I did it myself and wanted to see other peoples reactions about it. This just brings us back to the question that I asked at the beginning of this reply.
I have to say that I really didn't remember this having being submitted already. I thought that only the MouseFan and GlowPad were the ones that were shown.
About that self-promoting, why not? You mean that it is ok to login with same "fake" account and submit a story or do it anonymously? If the story seems worth sharing and administration of Slashdot feels it is funny, why shouldn't it get posted regardles who is the source?
A lot of questions but it just seems strange that the source of the article can't be the creator of the content. I know that I'm not the only one doing it around here.
Now we are just waiting to see what company patents the "idea" first. Something in the lines of Antec and Led Fans. Too bad that I didn't have enough money for patent when I invented these lighted mousepads (GlowPad) back in 2001. Now I'm holding my breath and waiting when the first BreezePad comes out.;)
Nope, everything went ok. I glued a piece of paper to that foil to prevent these situations. That foil is also far away from that pcb so it's quite safe.
Feels great to get/.'ed. Thank you all for visiting my site http://hw.metku.net. Thanks to those who made mirrors to my site. hmm... this is getting similar to Oscar Gala, maybe I should thank my wife too...;)
Hope you all understand that this mod was made just for fun. I just wanted to see that could this be done. It was also intended to be a joke to everybody who place n+1 fans to their computers. Too bad that it really worked;)
