lesse, the NT kernel consists of a bunch of files: kernel32.dll (9X has that and krnl386.exe) shell32.dll wsock32.dll and don't forget the GUI subsystem, as it's part of it... commdlg32.dll comctl32.dll and we still have to boot: ntldr, ntdetect.. the file sizes do add up, compared to linux...
You'd only be able to do that if the LCD was analog, otherwise the LCD (like most laptop LCDs) require a Digital output (coincidentally, Digital LCD out was one of the options considered for TNT2 based cards, but was dropped)
If this is true, and is running an NT compatible Win32 system, this shows how really inefficient the coders @ Microsoft really are (or are pushed to be)...
Is it just me, or do I like the idea of nice LCD (or any other super thin display technology) screens, yet completely hate the ultra-proprietary, 100% incompatible and non-upgradeable designs everyone is creating?
Even Intel insists we are stupid therefore we don't need internal slots/bays... 6 Miles of Firewire and USB cable surrounding your nice little box...

Considering that the TI-83 Plus (with *flash rom*!) is out now, are you considering porting linux to that? Or are the memory constraints just too high for anything less than a pure ASM OS?
I don't think apple can win, they didn't when they sued microsoft over stealing the "look and feel" of the interface. Althought this does hold the prospect of being more damaging than GUI design...
But you realize that those ACs aren't actual linux users, they just know someone (or heard of someone) using a distribution, and feel they must rant and rave about it. Most BBSes require Registration to post, i think these people are why that is so.
I reccomend that those posts be deleted. They aren't necessary. Redhat has done a lot for linux.
Anyways, that's kinda interesting. Redhat started like many software companies, in some sort of makeshift office. And I don't think Redhat would benefit at all from leaving SC.
It's just a coded limit to make you buy NT Server (or go ask a friend for a copy of linux). Aside from a few tools, and minor changes to the NT Server Kernel (allows for more than 2 CPUs, same reason for the connection limit), NT Workstation and NT Server are basically the same.
If you want to do that, fine. Then censor all of the hates sites, all of the anti-government sites, and everything that offends everyone. Granted I could do searches for that at home (not that any of those topics interest me), but not everyone can. So they go to the library. But remember to filter it so that no one feels that their rights are impeded, and their money wasted when they have to use a computer with a filter set to someone Age 8.
Actually, at the core of a p3 is the Pentium Pro, which was a RISC based core with additional (read: useless) instructions that slowed the whole load down. I think that all of that extra MMX crap could (should) be offloaded to a DSP.
Well, most current BIOSes are software based, rather than actually burned in to the ROM chip. and if you clear the BIOS, you only clear what's in the temporary section of the chip. I personally think that the whole idea is bullsh*t anyways.
This will be struck down so quick it won't even be funny. Censorship is unconstitutional in any form.

The only one that shouldn't (none of them actually deserve to) be associated with Divx is betamax, because it's a LOT better than VHS (a case where a better format lost out). In fact, most TV stations and broadcast networks use beta due to it's higher resolution. But alas...
I don't get this guy. He makes it sound like Redhat is going to take control of linux because they have investments from Dell, IBM, and the like. And what's this "new software business model"? I doubt that many changes from redhat would be rejected, considering they are often good, and are GPLed.

Oddly enough, high school is the reason i considered getting one. But i think the aluminum (?) case of the palm V is nicer.
I wonder if this will create a "Handheld PC Craze" like it did with the iMac. Not that the iMac was a good thing...
