If that is really what it took for you to change your oil, then you should definitely have someone else do it for you. I'm certainly no mechanic, but I've been changing the oil in my vehicles myself for the last 10 years (the entire time I've had vehicles) and I don't seem to have nearly the time of it you do. 10 minutes tops, start to finish. Usually only my hands get very slightly dirty, so nothing to wash. Auto parts store will take the old oil, they are 3 minutes away from my house.

And the real plus? I've never been upsold or lied to by the "mechanic" changing my oil. I've never had additional repairs to my vehicles because of incompetence of the technician (over tighten drain plug, cracking pan). I know for certain what kind of oil went in and what condition it was coming out.

But hey, we are in in different circumstances, do what's right for you.

These people lie for a living. It is their job to say whatever it takes to get you to read/click their mail. Why would you believe them when they tell you the filters are working? Wouldn't it be smarter to lie to you and make you believe the filters are working when in fact they may not?

He means if you part it out. If you take all the parts off a new car and sell them, you should recover considerably more than you paid for it. The difficulty and reason more people don't try to do this for a living, is that you'd have to sell nearly every part of the car. It would be easy to sell the first 25% of the parts, but it would get progressively harder to finish it up. Not worth the effort for most people. The reason the parted out car is worth more in parts is due to the mark-up on replacement parts. The car company has quantities of scale working for them, after-market replacements do not enjoy that benefit. Hence, a replacment bumper might cost $300 to replace, when it only cost the factory $100 to make the original.

I simply don't buy that arguement. I can't see how we will ever run out of energy, or how it will even be a major issue. The only reason solar or wind or hydro energy isn't used more often is becaus eit is currently easier/cheaper to simply burn something. But I believe that would change if more development was done on those alternative sources. We aren't spending a lot of resources on those technologies because it is still so cheap to burn things. When we start running out of things to burn, the price of those things will rise and create monetary incentive to look for alternatives. As long as it is cheaper to use oil, we will. But I don't think for one second that we can't get enough energy from other sources to meet our needs.

If that were true, then why do they offer different service levels from the cable company? If it were simply to support the physical infra-structure, they could give me all of the channels they carry for the same price as "basic" cable. Since I DO have to pay more for more channels, then I AM paying for those channels. It's not like they are running more lines to my house to give me the bigger channel package.
