"- Watch PBS. No ads, no pay (but you should donate money.)"
There are ads on PBS as it happens. Not during the the shows, but between them. I don't watch those either. And I rilly hate the fundraising.
"- Get HBO. A few decent shows (but you have to pay.)"
It's not an option in my area. But you're right, cable has some stuff to offer.
"- Rent DVDs. Some good movies out there (but you have to pay.)"
The audio sucks if you don't have a 5.1 decoder. I don't know why they don't make the same 2-trk stereo mix available that's on the VHS hi-fi tracks.
"- Watch the networks. Once in a while something amusing is on (but you should watch the ads.)"
You're not altogether wrong. Some of the ads are better than the shows (VW, Coke); what I'd like is a button that skips the ads I've seen already in the last 48 hours or so.
Hell, if you've got a fast computer with a tuner card and a big hard drive, you can probably write a shell script that does what PVRs do. Time-Warner can go to hell. Remember when PGP was "illegal" to use?
If GPS from a satellite in geo-whatchamacallit orbit can be jammed, then presumably the same jammer can be tuned to jam satellite tv signals too.
The Flash doesn't seem to work properly either.
This is such a Waste of Time & Talent -- why do we need a Flash-based search engine?
It's about the content, not the style, les gars.
Back to the Google board.
