From my experience with the law, I would think that the prosecutor would try to avoid a jury of CS majors. If the jury did not understand the evidence, I believe they would just trust the "experts" who caught the guy.
Your comparing the maximum amount of time that he could receive to the minimum amount of time that someone could receive for assault. In my state, Kentucky, a person convicted of first degree assault can receive up to 20 years. This guy was a first time offender and plead. I would be surprised if he gets more than a year, and possibly some massive fines.
Why sell this card with an SLI motherboard if you are not able to link it to another card? It seems a bit of a waste considering how much more expensive the SLI mothoerboard will be than non SLI boards.
