  1. Re:this is why I went with cable on Qwest-MSN Subscription Switching: Unfair? · · Score: 0

Me too. After placing an order for Qworst DSL in September that took until January to fiannly annoy me to the point of leaving, I went with Adelphia cable service in Colorado Springs. My understanding from the forums at DSL Reports is that Qwest for the most part hates the way that MSN is jackin' em. Most of middle managment is blaming Qwest's poor finiacial performance in the residential broadband market on MSN's CSRs and generally poor service all around. I had very good experiences with CSRs from both companies, but the inability to do something as simple as get me a username without disconnecting my phone line (which they did) was just a little much. Once again, I think that the consumer is going to dump on this deal. I know that I've slammed Qwest everytime anyone I know has asked about DSL service. There are far better alternatives availible. Some (earthlink and directv dsl) actually advertise nationally, and are doing a fine job of beating down msn.

The reality is that Disney hasn't made a movie worth watching since Beauty and the Beast. That's exactly why they decided to do an IMAX release, IMHO. Must see TV is dead. ER won't last much longer with no stars. Friends has seen a small revival, but only b/c they shifted the market to the 30-smoethings that were watching 5 years ago. Consumerism is weeding out the shit, and in the end, will do the same for all of this stuff. You can easily buy excellent region-free/macrovision free DVD players, DVD-A just announced a digital output standard.... $$ talks and in the end WE WILL WIN. The real question is whether or not the artists involved will survive the debate to the end (read :Natalie Imbuglia, for example.)

Exactly. I shudder to think of what this will run like on my mom's 56k ---> 350 PII. She's a big Olympics fan, too. :(

I'd have to agree. I really feel like much of the competition went away when pros started competing. I guess it's kinda cool to see the hockey, b/c at least they are playing for the country they grew up in, but in the end they all came to where the $$s are.

It seemed to me that it was would be a rather fruitless thing to try stop KaZaa, and that the guys named in the suit were just gonna get screwed. Judge: "Shut it off." Them: "uhhhh...." I find it honorable that they are at least 'trying' to meet the responsibility set out. How can it be that the judicial system doesn't know that port blocking across many ISPs would be the only solution? Do judges really not talk to people in the know?
