No; the best way to convert people from Microsoft is to ease them into an environment where all their old applications and systems work and they can freely interchange with said old applications. Yes, you'd exclude yourself from Microsoft; but then Microsoft users would exclude you.

Your statement though sharp and quick-to-the-point missed the nail by a half-yard. You're obviously overzealous and obsessed in your own stereotypes of people and how they should immediately hop on the free software bandwagon when they get the chance because "they can". Remember, I love and use free software in replacement to and instead of proprietary products as much as the next person here on Slashdot, but when you begin forcing your views down someone elses throat, you really draw the line.

Then again, there is yes, the people who go in full force by saying that "there are equivalents available for free "in" Linux". This is a sad view which only masks up the real lack for well-developed software on the platform. I think Linus did a superb job in setting up and managing his kernel, but collaboration sucks and the end result is a collage of buggy releases and unprofessional products. At the core is an enterprise-level system with all-around-excellent performance but the second you leave that small circle, you enter the world of the Segmentation fault.

    Thank you.

***sigh of exasperation*** is in no way proper English; it denotes no such expression and simply shows your lack of syntax. Please refrain from these simply hilarious excuses for "English" that you post on Slashdot. If we wanted to read your, pardon the metaphor (though quite valid) garbage, we'd visit a troll-run site such as fark.com. Unfortunately, this is a site which I would like to believe is mostly intelligent people; so I will simply warn you of our discontent with these daily sums of idiocy you are dealing out of the open-source/technology community.

"BTW, I'm a f*king computer programmer"? Hrm, you sound naive even in that field. I have been working with ASM and some of the less elegant high-level languages since I was quite young; however you don't see me making these, stereotypically American types of bragging notions on forums. May seem like I drag on to bite the trolls comments, but you are such an incredible fool to even start.

With power comes arrogance, apparently. Don't let mis-spoken fools like 'luke' represent our intelligence (on another note, I shouldn't let trolling fools like you represent America; but you do cast the image that Canada and the rest of the _world_ has of your country -- arrogance and introversion.) By making "amusing"(?) comments and phrases about our apparent igloos, you only berate your own intelligence and country once again. A large percentage of NASA is Canadian. There's a fun fact for "ya". (speaking of which, Mr. English, why are you using such simple-minded phrases now?). A large percentage of Americans are oebese, a problem we do not have. Even a troll can bite on a troll; when that troll is so uninformed as to make snide and naive comments about another nation. Hilarious, fools like you are; just hilarious.

I find it amusing how you indulge yourself in displaying signs of your own amateurishness in operating well, your operating system. You, yourself admit the use of binary packages (a sure sign of administrative negligence in such a trivial package to install! I'm not flaming down the use of binaries, but at this level? You're ability is LAUGHABLE now!). RedHat and AOL? If this happens, I will commit hiri kiri after burning all copies of my RedHat CDs.
