    Indeed. Given what Microsoft has done to undermine other operating systems and their vendors, it is amusing to see the same thing done to them and them crying foul.

    I'll admit it's very amusing but I'm morally torn on this one. Is it right to do wickedness to wicked people just because they would do the same to you?

    They say turnabout is fair play but they also say be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one.

    Offensive capabilities.. Other countries are not going to be offended by you defending yourself, they will be offended by you attacking others.

    The normal way that all weapons of war are retired when the war ends.

    Anyone accepting these implants, enhancements, or whatever should understand that it's a one way thing. They are giving up their life to become a weapon of war.

    ZFS is very, very nice if you have lots of disks. PF and carp are nice but you will get later versions and better security on OpenBSD.

    The documentation does seem more consistent than any I've seen with any linux distribution.

    BSD is for people who love Unix

    I hate Microsoft and love Unix. I use both.

    But if linux had stable ZFS I'd likely not run FreeBSD.

    The explaination for the site access ban is netbsd=hobby site by the ranking of the net filtering service my company uses

    Your net filtering service is broken. I suggest you complain to them.

    Do you really need a net filtering service anyway?

    are you aware of any OS that does not suffer by privilege escalation exploits ? if so, be a dear and share it with the rest of us.

    There are hundreds of these a year on windows. Windows has so many security problems because it's based on a broken design.

    Another exploit for this POS OS.

    This one appears to be due to nvidia's binary drivers. Every platform is equally vulnerable to evil kernel level code.

    Besides exploits for Windows are so frequent that they are not news. Unless they hit hundreds of thousands of exploits overnight it's just business as usual.

    Google does not support IE 8 which is the defecto standard

    Even the backward company I work for dropped IE8 some time ago. It's not standard because there is no standard.

    Granted Firefox is a PITA with its frequent new major versions and Chrome feels like a browser for people who are too dumb to be allowed to configure anything.

Google's constant trolling of linked-in with the assumption that anyone with a few years of unix knowledge would kill their own children just to work for them is sickening. The way they abuse customers with their adwords pricing setup is sickening. The information they are collecting for the truly wicked people of this world is more than sickening.

    It's time slashdot got past the drolling over google stage.

    To me SMART does not lie, but reports too much. It reports every replaced sector which is totally unimportant, especially when you buy a new hard drive, you will find faulty sectors in 50% of cases (quite normal). The hard drive with few faulty sectors on day one will function for decades correctly.

    If your new drive has reallocated sectors it's broken and will likely fail soon. It's unlike to survive decades if it's in actual use.
