  1. Re:Virus proliferation on The End of Signature-Based Antivirus Software? · · Score: 1

Just FYI - Some viruses are re-using code of prior viruses which may trigger a previous signature. This works for variants when they are not packed and are not polymorphic and the analyst wrote a good signature (i.e. chose the right part of the virus for the signature string). In cases of worms - such as the Plug and Play variants - IPS signatures could be blocking the exploit part of the worm - and when an AV vendor also supplies IPS products... I will not be surprised if what has cought the worm proactivly was the IPS signature due to the exploit code which was public - being used in the worm...

A guy was driving his car and got a call from his wife warning him about a radio news report of a dumbass that was driving in the opposite direction against traffic on the same road he was on. So the guy replied - 1 dumbass? I saw 50 already... Moral of the story - if everyone sais that Apple is overpriced - Guess what? It is. And as much as you would like to think so, buying overpriced goods is never smart.

I would not trust their 8 byte "strong" encryption key if my life depended on it. They generate a 48 byte 3-DES key and store 40 bytes of it on the freakin` server - the one who came up with that idea should send his last e-mail - IMHO.

Davis knows he is going to lose to schwarzenegger and so he decides to put him under political pressure when his turn comes. All of his current moves are good for the little guy but are they going to remain after the change? Who knows...

He (Arnold) is going to face all the pressure of the rich and all-powerful lobbyists and doing any of them a favor would be going against one large voting sector or another.

Arnold will have to keep the status-quo if he wants to look good to the public, but will get a lot of angry lobbyists working against him.

I guess only time will tell...
