Buy me a dell, gateway, or other brand-name computer, and 'chose' not to buy windows.
I dare you.
where, pre tell, is the CHOICE in that?
do I get the 2.9 ghz p4 dell with 2 MB video card and windows, or do I get the 1.7 ghz Gateway with a 10 gig hard drive and 'free' 2x CD burner 'upgrade' with windows?
geeeeee choices choices.
they only 'freedom to choose' in this case is the freedom to spend a month learning how to build your own computer and two months learning how to use Linux/bsd/whatever
I ordered a stack of cd-r's from some bargain basement retailer on pricewatch. Usually you have good luck with them
they billed immediately, sent me an email and.... and....
and...
and THEN they finally decided to ship it.
I have yet to have problems with UPS or Fedex, but because of these guys sitting on it for a few weeks before they shipped it, my mother got a burner with no blanks for x-mas, and a bashful "sorry" from me.
slightly OT, but uh, if you selling things to americans, SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY or let someone who does answer the phones, PLEASE
really, what if it is unavailable? The article linked isnt working for me right now, which means the/. effect is taking its toll. Instead of waiting till tommorow i can just read this guys post.
Granted he was fishing for karma, but still, sometimes ripping something off is ok.
ive got a K7S5A aswell, and i love it.
I'm too young to remember PC-Chips as pc-chips though. If you look at their site, its absolutely horrible. bad english, bad design, doesnt work in anything but IE and netscape.... nasty. half the site is.chm for crying out loud.
ive heard this board gets nasty with 1.4 ghz athlon tbirds and athlon XP's though.... good thing i slipped in under the "break me" radar with my 1.33....
in those tests, the heatsink was removed completely.
in reality, when your FAN fails, your heatsink will still be attached.
so that 300 celsius will be spread over a very large surface area designed to dissapate heat.
chances of igniting paper from the heatsink itself are pretty much nil, though you could probably burn the hell out of a few fingers.
