Well, my pappy always told me that anyone who couldn't/wouldn't use the language properly was either "stupid", meaning he/she couldn't learn, or was "ignorant", meaning he/she hadn't learned. In the first case, there's nothing to be done. In the second case, some people are just to lazy to learn and/or apply what they have learned. BTW, I'm not a "city boy" either, and "college" has nothing to do with speaking/writing correctly.
