I would agree. I installed OS X on a G4 that I had been using OS 9 on for almost a year. The whole process took... 4 hours ! It is no big deal, and much more stable than 9.
I find that, having gone to OS X, I basically _never_ go back to 9. When I do, it seems clunky.
Edwin Land (yes, the founder of Polaroid) did work in human color perception, where he showed that two colors could used to create an apparent
full color image.
The important things are our visual expectations, as well as the relative intensity of parts of the scene. I can remember a demo from Land where two projectors sufficed to give a full color scene.
If part of the image was abstracted, it appeared to be black and white !
This implies that a combination of two colors can, under certain circumstances, appear to be the same as a different combination of three colors.
I would suspect that this effect would have to be considered in the vision tests described in the original posts.

Apple is not in this alone. Apple is a founding member in the
Internet Streaming Media Alliance, or
ISMA, which is standardizing MPEG-4 for streaming. At the Fourth ISMA forum last week, the move by MPEG-LA to apply a per stream license fee was seen as pretty brain-dead.
MPEG-4 is being rolled out for set-top boxes for Cable Companies. The MPEG-LA license fee would add a charge of almost $ 15.00 per box per month to your cable bill. This would just about double my cable bill. This will kill MPEG-4 if it is not changed.
The speculation is that this is Microsoft (a member of the license pool) trying to squelch competition, without leaving any fingerprints.
