Okay, so this isn't the MOST geeky thing to do by a long shot, but it worked! I bought a copy of the movie Pay It Forward, which my girlfriend and I saw on our very first date. Then, at an appropriate time during the opening credits, I recorded my proposal (complete with bent knee and ring).
I convinced her we should rent that movie and watch it, so I went to Hastings and got it, then sneakily swapped the tapes! She was in her PJs eating chicken soup (she was kind of sick that day) when I came on the video. Next to her on the couch, I knelt down and proposed (saying the same words I had said on the tape). It was great:)
Oh, yeah, and at the end of the tape I put some "outtakes!";-)
