Only traffic going to TOR network should go to TOR network. Going through TOR to browse internet etc is incredibly stupid.
Exit nodes can be set up by anybody. Exit nodes can see ALL traffic flowing through them passively - there is absolutely no way to see if someone is intercepting the data on the fly. Even SSL/TLS protected connections are leaking connection metadata and so on.
