OpenBSD developers have not been able to get ANY specs from Intel on their gigabit ethernet product line. Thus, the Intel drivers are flakey. Conclusion: Buy products from Alteon or SysKonnect.
I tend to avoid both buzzwords. Programmers, developers and network security experts are better terms than hackers, with appropriate adjectives. Likewise, you can describe the bad guys as intruders and attackers. Black and white hats (gray ones too, I guess) are alternatives I also shun.
Are there any commerical support contracts available for the other *BSD variants? OpenBSD support can be obtained from NSTI. They use OpenBSD in their operations and have donated resources to the group.
Reverse DNS lookups have nothing to do with your choice of modem. Your ISP holds the xxx.yyy.whatever database for your IP number (unless you're using the full class-C). Get them to enter your name in their database. Ciao! --Louis
