Use your enginuity to continue thwarting the efforts of these companies and governments at copy protection. We all know some smart person will always find a new way to use a sharpie, and if you can see/hear it, you can copy it. We all know that, the industry just doesn't want to accept it. They need to realize that these schemes only cost them a lot of money and in the end will just ammount to punishing honest consumers.
So copy music, copy movies, and share them. When someone comes out with a CD/Movie that you like, buy it and support the artists but don't give away your rights to fair use. If I buy a CD/DVD, I'm going to listen/watch it on my computer, I don't have a goddamn DVD player or even a set top CD player and they can't make me buy one.
That's why my restoration ecology class at UCSB were just over there loading up some rat traps on Anacapa. Anacapa is a really cool island btw. There are some really awesome views. I hope the rats get flushed out. BTW Sanchez, man those two pieces of pie were good. MMMMM pie. lol
People seem to think that environmentalists want to steal all your money and spend it on saving a little bug that nobody has heard about. What they don't seem to realize is that many people just want sound management and planning for the future that will have real positive effects on the environment.
There are 6 billion people on earth, 5 billion of those appeared the the last 100-120 years. That is insane. There will most certainly be effects on the environment, many of which we probably cannot stop. We could do things to help like using solar energy though. Have the government front the money to put high efficiency solar panels on everyone's roof, then have people just pay the government back with a monthly fee just like a power bill that will pay for the solar cells. Scientists are working on a new form of black silicon solar cells that will have ~60% efficiency. That is great. It is an easy, cost effective solution. I just wish our political leadership in this country could look more than 4 years in the future to see that this is a good idea.
I don't know about you, but I would like to be able to go snorkling with my kids in twenty years and be able to show them all of the cool stuff in the coral reefs of the indo-pacific. Its sad when people put interests of money and power over the fate of not only species but communities that are landmarks of this planet.
