As a potential student of programming I think that it is more important to get the conceptual ideas of programming first. I think that to demonstrate logical programming is much more important than learning syntax. Many books that I have looked at try a 24 hour format. They also claim that little knowledge of programming is necassary. Even after completing a book I am left with little skills in implementation of even the most basic nature. I think that a what your are attempting could be very useful.
