  1. Give 'em choices! on Testing Kids' IT Skills · · Score: 1

Why not give them 2 weeks of boring mind numbing drivel (Basic Computer 101) and then give them some choices as to what they want to pursue? Do this for the whole class, so you don't need to do any "testing" for your good or bad apples. Tests are bad m'kay!* Subjects to expand on: History and theory of computation. Computer Hardware. Networking. Programming. How to trolling on /. ;). Give them the first 2 weeks to give everyone a baseline, and then branch off into subgroups. *Don't mind me; I'm flunking out of college.

*Vindicated puts the C bigot cap on. It's a nice idea and very elegant, but so is C++ on paper. Go look at how KDE bitches about dynamic binding in GCC being so slow. You have to pay the price for such flexibility. C and ASM will get you through most anything. C for portability, ASM for speed. I'm that one out of 1 gazzilion :).

Of which I have none. Are there any good web/''net resources for setting up a VPN under Linux? How about VPNs from Linux to Windows and vice versa? HOWTOs? Tutorials? Utilities like Apachetoolbox, but for VPNs? Thanks.

Are they still around? Is anyone continuing their work? And what of VirtualDub? Is there a Linux port out? Anyone know? It sucks to have to boot into Windows just to use premiere... (Yeah, yeah VMWare, but shhh :) ).
