  1. Annan has not been accused of taking money. on Following up on Torrent Shutdowns · · Score: 5, Informative
then ask why Kofi Annan and company were personally involved in the Oil for Food scandal.

There is absolutely no evidence that Kofi Annan has personally profited from the oil-for-food program.

Remember, this program was set up at the behest of the US, with support from the UK and was, according to UNICEF, responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?Sectio nID=15&ItemID=6861

  2. Re:News for Nerds ... on Cannes' Palme d'Or goes to Michael Moore · · Score: 2, Informative
Moore has (rightfully) left himself out of this film, merely providing, sometimes annoying commentary. The film is fact after fact. Bush did spend over 40% of his first eights months in office on holiday.

The film has footage of independent 'embedded' cameramen in Iraq, showing pictures that the corporate US networks won't show for fear of upsetting their sponsors. Read the revievs and watch the film before you judge.

Warning: The file doing the rounds on P2P networks "Fahrenheit.911.Michael_Moore.LIMITED.(CANNES_'04) .XviD.SCREENER.-NOX.txt" is a fake.

  5. No money for health or education, then? on Sensor Networks for NBC Threats · · Score: 2, Insightful
a nationwide sensor network that could provide a real-time early-warning system for chemical, biological and nuclear threats across the US.

How much is it going to cost? How many attacks have there been in the US since 9/11? None. Nada. Zip.

While the Federal government spends billions of dollars on anti-terrorism, homeland security, tax-cuts-for-the-rich (TM) and un-necessary wars, ordinary people are losing their jobs, have no decent health care and are suffering for inadequate funding of schools. This is progrsss?
