Lucas doesn't seem to bother with fitting the new movies in the "canon" of the original trilogy so why should what happens in a cartoon bother him? Or can you explain why Obi Wan didn't recognize R2 and C3P0 when he first saw them in the first movie or one of a hundred other plot holes?
