Oil is worth what they can get for it. If the price goes too high then alternatives become economically viable. The reason gas is king is because relatively speaking it's cheap. If they get greedy and drive it too high they'll cause other options to begin taking off and if the Oil people aren't careful one of those other options could take hold causing them a serious problem. I don't know that Oil could handle real competition.
I remember Hot Rod magazine back in the 70's talking about rebuilding an old car being better for the environment than collecting tons of aluminum cans. They took a 4000 pound family car and built it for efficiency and power winding up with a car that could carry a family of 6, get over 25 miles to the gallon and turn 13's in the quarter mile. Not bad for 70's tech. I've thought about doing something similar with my 98 Grand Marquis. It gets 24mpg on the highway now I'd like to see if I can get it up over 30mpg. For around town though an electric vehicle might be okay if the price was reasonable. It's only a 15 mile commute so it wouldn't be a problem with the short range of those vehicles.
Too bad he didn't anticipate Mehdi Ali and Irving Gould coming in to destroy the company.
I still remember one magazine talking about those two fools on the golf course. "What is it we sell again?" "Computers." "Oh, yes, how are those selling anyway?"
I bought a lot of games for the 64 and a few for the Amiga. I did pirate EA games but that was after one of their shitty copy protected disks hammered my 1541 drive into oblivion. 5 minutes to load a game that after stripping the protection off only took about 15 seconds. Nobody else did that shit like that, it was unnecessary.
All the American tech companies are guilty. Commodore made computers in West Chester, Pennsylvania and the Philippines and Ireland. Since those days almost all of the computers are made in The Peoples Republic of China. It's not Apple alone. The Apple haters are about as bad as the Apple fanboys about twisting facts.
The math is is simple. The dime is now worth a penny. If you deflate the currency it'll be worth 10 cents again. I don't speak of getting rid of money but deflating it.
How about we just adjust the currency. Let's shift it one decimal point and everything that costs a dollar is now 10 cents and if you make 3000 dollars a month it's now 300 dollars. New currency can be issued and all the old money face value is now down one decimal place. Then a coke will be 6 cents at work instead of 60 and the penny is relevant again. No more trying to feed worn bills into the vending machine.
You know, I wouldn't rely too much on that voice analysis just yet. The way things have been twisted and edited here I don't put much stock in anything reported in this case.
I got slammed in the head in a sandlot football game where I was unconscious for several minutes and had a bad concussion. If it had been photographed no one could have seen the knot on my head unless they used a 3D movie camera and then it would have had to be a close up. There was no blood at all but I threw up every time I moved for two days. I had an Uncle who was pushing trees away from a lake site they were clearing on a bulldozer when a pine limb snapped back and hit him just above the temple. You could see a very small purple spot just above his temple when I saw him in the coffin at his funeral. Head trauma doesn't have to be obvious to be dangerous.
The problem with this case is the only people who know for sure exactly what happened are Zimmerman and Martin. Unfortunately we wont be hearing Martin's side of things.
I don't know what happened. I don't say the kid was a gang banger. For all I know he was going to the store in the A.M. for some skittles, it could be. I'm saying that neighborhoods are getting fed up with being treated like ATM's by teenagers and those people are the ones that are going to sit on any jury. I've read the accounts of what happened, the only witnesses to the altercation seem to back Zimmerman. The 911 call seems to indicate he's chasing Martin but then he claims that when they told him to stop he stopped. Maybe he didn't. Zimmerman was wounded in the altercation but it could be that he started it and then when he was getting his ass beat he pulled the gun and shot. Could be. I bet though, in a jury trial, that if his witnesses back him he's going to walk especially the way Florida law is written.
You forget that the trial will be held in the county he resides in. Not LA or New York or any other bastion of liberal thought and policy. In this county I assure you the majority of Home Owners and Employed Taxpayers who make up the majority of the jury pool will decide and not Al Sharpton nor any members of the New York Times staff. Given this fact I'd bet his peers, who are fed up with thugs wanderning around in the wee hours of the night seeking what they can take will be much more likely to understand what was going through Zimmerman's mind than you are. I'd bet money that he would walk.
I think the DA would be doing Zimmerman a favor if they tried him now. It'd take the heat off, the evidence could get presented, he'd be exonerated in court and this shit would be over. As it is he's going to be stalked by the media the rest of his life.
You know, years ago there was the dueling code where if you insulted someone you met them on the field of honor. This tended to make people more circumspect about their behavior. Now it's prison and school suspension. The point is, action have consequences. I have no pity for him.

Better than Jack DOS

I spent many hours typing in SpeedScript out of Compute!'s Gazette Magazine. That's when I learned to backup my work to save lots of cussing.

I always said that EA sucked. Now I know they swallow too.

You mention rationality to a slashdotter? How irrational.
I'm not at all amazed at the reporting. The media has an agenda and they'll twist the facts as necessary. The end does, after all, justify the means.

Don't confuse the issue with facts.
I thought Zimmerman was Hispanic?

Beautiful, absolutely marvelous.

What the fuck is a segway? What does it have to do with laser weapons?

Only if he was told to by the same people that told President Bush to invade Iraq.
