The usual Slashdot response is that there is no way prioritization is compatible with net neutrality, but we only have to look at the post office to see that it can be done. You have the choice to send by standard mail, or to pay more to speed up delivery.
Perfect! The customer pays extra for speed of a shipment irregardless of contents inside. Now if only the we could apply this to the internet.
As I've said many times, patches are nowhere near as high a concern if you lock things down in the first place, and Microsoft do provide some pretty good tools for doing that in Windows (namely Group Policy).
As I've said many times, might as well go back to testing with a pad and pen if my work computer is no better than a portable heater. If I had to ask for permission every time I need access to services on my own machine it would double the time it already takes me to get things done. Network security is important. It isn't more important that the reason the network exists in the first place. Locking everything down is the easy way out and not always the most productive. Is slashdot on your list of approved web sites or are you just invoking IT GOD power?
There various other forums with that have been complaining about this drive when used in the HD dish DVRs......VIP722 and 722. Both receivers are able to expand the capacity with an external HD. I believe these receivers are running a Linux kernel version. One of the fixes proposed was using the Seagate tools to turn off the power save feature.
The 500G version has been selling all over for $120 and was in the market for one to use in a Linux media server. Glad I went with the Western Digital after reading those threads!

I use RR in upstate NY with vonage and also have Frontier. (Mainly because I live in one of the areas without number portability) I have my POTS service forwarded to Vonage. This gives me all the calling features without paying Frontier the absorbant amount for that same service. In the two plus years with Vonage, it hasn't been without it's hiccups but I have never had to call and complain. When issues arise they are awsome at posting messages on the account that there is a problem and it is being corrected. As for digital phone, $40 for unlimited service. Is TW really trying to compete? At this price it should only take a week.
