    E=electromotive force (measured in Volts)in Ohm's Law (although I've never figured out why current in Amperes is represented by I).
    In E=MC^2 the E stands for energy, measured in somethingortheothers, but not necessarily electrical energy.

    The difference is that the 10 Ohm would let 10 times as much current flow, which might not be desirable.
    By the way, Ohm is capitalized, as it is in honor of one of the many whose contributions to science allow us to have these wonderful playthings.

    I thought that was the whole point, getting a raid controller at the much lower price of the ATA66.
    I assumed moving the pull-up (pull-down?) resistor from R10 to R9 was to tell the chip to think of itself as a raid controller instead of as a 66. Where would you attach a capacitor and why?

    Because you didn't make it clear that you were using the word as your reaction to the story rather than just using the word to be vulgar in public (which seems to be the motive of a increasing number of posters anymore). You should have said "I really don't have anything to say about this story other than the subject heading.".

    Going beyond guessing for a moment, The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, which happened to be a few feet from me 'cause I haven't gotten around to putting it back in the bookcase in the other room, says that "persona grata" is an adjective meaning "Fully acceptable or welcome, especially to a foreign government", so persona non grata would be person not acceptable or welcome. For example: "Ever since I threw up on the pool table in the middle of the tournament, I've been persona non grata at the bar I used to hang out in." (made up example, complete with grammatical error))

    You should have that prediction signed with your real name, dated, notarized, and locked away somewhere so that you can bring it out and say "I told you so!". If I were currently moderating I'd give you an "insightful". The high access Time-Warner Cable is interested in is only their access to your wallet.

    The purpose of sites like those is to get people to look at the ads and to access the parent company's main organ (cable channel or newspaper) in the future where they will be exposed to further ads. That's how they make a living.
    The purpose of Slashdot? That'll need an article and thread all its own.

    In order to let AOL use Time-Warner Cable's physical infrastructure to offer cable access without some other government agency jumping on them for being a monopoly, they have to open it up to ISP's other than AOL. They'll still find a way to make the situation more favorable for AOL than anybody else, followed by the other biggies (MSN, Mindspring, etc), with the local mom and pop ISP and their customers getting screwed the most, although the cable company's desire to keep the phone company out of the video (TV, not picture phone) delivery business will be one of the jokers in the deck.
