Surveillance cams have many legitimate and worthwhile uses. No argument there.

Civil liberties exist not to protect citizens from criminal intent but to protect citizens from those with the power to enforce.
People do however have a sense of privacy or anonymity even in a crowd. Even though some people are aware of cameras watching them, I think most people forget or ignore their presence. Taking photos of the cams is a way to focus people's attention.
If a person is directly watching you for any extended period of time, I think you would become aware of that person and modify your behavior. With surveillance cams, you (or your beautiful wife, or your innocent children) can easiliy overlook the fact that you are being watched.
Technology transfer and commercialization of NASA technologies is not a new idea. in the mid-80's I was involved in two projects that used NASA's Small Business Technology Transfer Program (think that's the name). In fact the news release states "On average, JPL reports nearly 300 innovations per year and roughly 150 new business partnerships." Hopefully, the Commercialization Center will expidite the process.
I am concerned about the government having valid information about me. Not necessarily now, but who knows what the future brings. Many nations historically and throughout the world have been guided by criminal governements.
That would concern me deeply. I would probably be declared a criminal as would most/.s. Beyond the concern over government there is also the concern about information sharing. Who guarantees that those who receive the information would not use it to my personal detriment.
Ask any politician if personal information may be used to inflict harm.
