KDE comes with a service called the "KTrader". You can ask it for a list of 'KParts' which are associated with a certain filetype. Wether this is (K|G)VimPart or say, Kate
is a matter of taste. You don't like KVimPart ? Edit the filetype and tell it
to embed Kate instead.
