As far as Great Britain is concernend, how much sense does it make that the POLICE don't even get to carry guns? Not much deterrent...
I'll admit that 1200 baud isn't much, however don't forget the RANGE you can get on HF. Even 2400 baud can be impressive at a couple thousand miles... And also don't forget the price. This gear can be picked up for $5 at a hamfest.
By the way, that $5 copy of XP pro also does not have any registration procedure. Just enter a serial and you're good to go. Sounds like the fabled corporate copy of XP which also does not have any registration procedure.
Since when do schools pay full price for M$ products? I know at a local college I can get XP pro for $5.00 at the bookstore. Yeah, full version of XPPRO for $5. That is, if I'm a student or faculty. Is that only for colleges or does MS shaft grade schools and give colleges the good deals?
If I was Microsoft I'd want to get the skulls full of mush hooked on the eye candy that is XP so they will ALWAYS want Microsoft products when they grow up. Brand loyalty counts.
