in case anyone forgot, "ease of use" is relative to the person using the software. i have no problems installing debian and getting it going, x windows or not. if you're a retard then you'll have trouble installing anything. i'm sick of listening to a bunch of windows/redhat users crying that it's to hard. RATHER THAN BASHING DEBIAN FOR IT'S INTALLER WHY DON'T YOU PICK UP ABOOK AND LEARN ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!
oh and by the way the way, debian doesn't have "market share", debian is not marketed.
I have followed the microsoft's palladium project since it has discussed publicly, i also have not booted a microsoft opersting system for over a year now. If I were graced with the oppertunity to attend this gig, I would ask him what the palladium project means for open source projects such as Linux, the BSD's, and HURD. And what part exacty does Intel play in all of this, considering that microsoft and intel have been in-cahoots since the beginning. By the way don't be surprised if he declines the question or labels it 'off subject'.
redhat isn't linux (it has many completely propritary utils, slack is getting outdated and win2k has plenty of things wrong with it (even the final build was lacking drivers for the most common devices). The idea of setting up an operating system automaticly is a farce, anyone worthy of using their machine should spend the time to do right. Like for intance securing the box, how long does that take you?
It seems these days that everyone want's to have their cske and eat it too. We either want to send a manned misasion to mars or we don't. There are risks involved in any kind of endevor into the unknown. I don't really care about weather they bring something back with them, it couldn't possibly be worse than anything we already have here on earth.
a market implies "sale"! moron
this the most intelligent thing i've read on slashdot in a long time. the manual is strong with this one.
