Warez is not WRONG. There are many laws that exist for very wrong reasons. Is what Tresco did wrong? I honestly don't know, but what I do know is that I have a great deal of appreciation for warez and for what he did and others are doing; sharing.
I am a graphic artist, I create designs for flyers, interactive cds, web sites, video, and basically... anything. Before that, I was a struggling teen dropout in a broken home making pizzas for a living.
So what happened? Well, when I was young and still beginning to use computers, one of my friends shared with me (as sharing IS a common human trait), a pirated version of photoshop. It must have been an early version. To me then, it was just a more advanced Kidpix or Paintbrush. I basically used it for making logos for handles and such, but I soon developed a serious niche for art & design. Finally I had something to fall back on, an actual skill to better myself in this world.
I think about what I would be doing if I had never used that program, and it bothers me. Of course, a 13 year old isn't going to go out and buy a piece of software that is $2,000 and completely alien. To make a long post shorter, one can see how pirating is completely ethical from my perspective.
Did I really hurt anybody? Did I really do physical, mental, or economical harm to anyone? Do I owe adobe my entire life savings of very little?

I would definately boycot, I've pretty much grown a disgust for media and entertainment anyway. Especially tv and radio, that shit is horrible. I'd much rather spend my time hacking RIAA MPAA networks, than polluting my mind with the shit they put out!

I downloaded the latest version of WMP about a month ago, and was going to install it until I realized it forced you to install like 5 other non-useful bloatware packages. I'm glad I didn't.
This makes me feel very unsafe knowing that everytime I watch a movie, or listen to an audio file, microsoft opens a connection into my computer, for the knowledgable to access. What's the use in that? Is it an error, or another backdoor for M$ to secretly spy on your private materials?

I've loved Adobe since the day I first learned about Photoshop. Their team produces some of the best software I have ever seen and used.
While I find Adobe's products to be useful, creative, stable, and always improving, I don't find that with Macromedia products at all. Most of the Macromedia products I've used have proven to be buggy, unorganized, and sometimes complicated to utilize.
I honestly wouldn't be hurt to see Macromedia simply disappear.
